The Kilimanjaro route with nights in huts rather than tents, with an extra day at Horombo Hut to acclimatise before the climb to Uhuru Peak.

Day by day

  1. Day 1Drive from Moshi to Marangu Gate and walk through the rainforest to Mandara Hut (2,720 m).
  2. Day 2Walk through heath and moorland to Horombo Hut (3,720 m).
  3. Day 3Acclimatisation day with a walk towards Mawenzi and back to Horombo Hut.
  4. Day 4Cross the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo to Kibo Hut (4,720 m).
  5. Day 5Night start to Gilman's Point and Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), then descend to Horombo Hut.
  6. Day 6Walk down to Marangu Gate and drive back to Moshi.
